" My name is Princess Hilda, and I have failed you in every way."
– Princess Hilda, introducing herself to Link

Hilda is the Princess of the Lorule Kingdom and her devotion to her land defines much of her personality. Gifted with extraordinary intelligence and tactical skills, the ruler of Lorule is a highly educated woman who speaks to all with a refined language. Yet, for all her intelligence the princess lacks wisdom and is prone to commit fatal errors of judgment. She scarcely smiles and carries with her the pain of her kingdom, one that never leaves her mind even if only for a short instant. At heart, the Princess of Lorule is a caring person, one whose intentions are nothing short of pure. But in her desire to do what is best for her kingdom, Hilda can easily be led astray and corrupted.

Hugging her: Sure! That may promise to be awkward or not.
Kissing her: At your own risks.
Flirting with Hilda: Sure, but don't expect her to flirt back.
Falling in love with Hilda: If your character does fall in love with her, that cannot be helped.
Injuring her: Ask me first, otherwise no.
Killing her: No.
Mind controlling her: Again, ask me first.
Using telepathy to communicate with her: Sure, definitely okay.
Reading her mind: This depends of the circumstances. As always, ask me first.

[Misc.]
Her soul/heart/spirit: Hilda may or not have divine origins, much like Zelda in Hyrule. As such, she probably feels like someone divine/belonging to the light, yet with darkness born from her despair covering her heart.
Her powers: The extent of her powers is unknown, but she is capable of telepathy and has enough powers to keep the Demon King restrained, even if for only a short while. Her powers are only magical however, lacking on the physical side.

Warnings: She will steal your golden triangles.

History: Princess Hilda - The Legend of Zelda Wiki
Personality: " My name is Princess Hilda, and I have failed you in every way."
– Princess Hilda, introducing herself to Link

Hilda is the Princess of Lorule Kingdom and its sole ruler, with her parents seemingly dead. And her devotion to her land defines much of her personality. At heart, the Princess of Lorule is a good person, one whose intentions are nothing short of pure. But in her desire to do what is best for her kingdom, Hilda can easily be led astray and corrupted.

"But I swear… I did it for my people."
– Princess Hilda, to Princess Zelda and Link

To speak of Hilda, it is necessary to begin by briefly evoking Lorule's history. Her ancestors chose to destroy the Triforce, so as to put an end to the wars fought over the divine relic. Yet, doing so cast the kingdom into chaos and disarray, as the Triforce was the pillar sustaining the world. As a result, Lorule was left as only a shadow of its former glory, a crumbling kingdom shrouded in darkness and filled with monsters. All of this happened a very long time ago, yet the people of Lorule still despise the Royal Family for the sorry state of their world. They resent the ruler of the Kingdom, Princess Hilda. She obviously is not responsible, yet she takes the blame without complaining.

The well-being of her people, their happiness matters above all in her eyes, even if they despise her for a mistake she never committed. To help her people, to save them, she is ready to do anything. She will even commit unforgivable sins if that's the only way for her to save them. This is why she allied with Yuga against all good judgment; this is how she became the mastermind behind the plot to rob Hyrule of its Triforce. Yet, calling Hilda "evil" simply because of the nature of her plan would be a mistake. She never had evil intentions at heart. No, but she was taken by despair and soon gave in to the feelings that had taken ahold of her heart. Not only did she want to save her people from their fate, but she shared this very fate. More than that, she felt as though she bore responsibility for the state of her Kingdom.

At such a young age, this burden was cast onto her shoulders and she was left as the lone ruler of Lorule. She did not shy away from her responsibilities, but progressively hope deserted her, leaving place only to despair. To escape an inescapable situation, to defy a fate none of her people deserved, she was ready to do anything. The one who should have been the hero to stand by her side fled, and she allied with the man who would have been her enemy in any other situation. Her kingdom no longer had any hope, but it still had her. As far as she was concerned, she was her kingdom's last hope. She may have been despairing, but she wouldn't let her kingdom down. And so she found a new hope for herself, but in doing so she became the enemy of Hyrule.

"She's being duped. Doesn't she realize that?"
– Ravio in his journal, regarding Hilda

Playing the role of the antagonist, Hilda proved to be a remarkable mastermind. She manipulated Link exactly the way she intended to, convincing him she was on his side and guiding him in his quest to become the Hero he was meant to be. Not only was she very manipulative, but she could also lie without any apparent difficulties. One could argue that her plan to steal Hyrule's Triforce was perfect. Her only mistake was to trust Yuga. The trust she placed in such a man shows her greatest character flaw: her lack of wisdom.

For all the intelligence Hilda demonstrates, she shows very little in the way of wisdom. The end result of her plan would have restored Lorule to its former glory, but would have destroyed Hyrule in its place. There is no wisdom in saving a Kingdom at the price of another. If anything, this is nothing short of foolish. And while it is evident Yuga nudged her toward going forward with such a terrible plan, it was from her own free will that she went along with it. Ravio saw the vile intents of Yuga, yet she remained blind to it. She was both manipulated yet willing to go to such lengths to save her kingdom.

It is evident the prospect of condemning Hyrule to become a land of darkness pained her. Yet rather than face this reality, she ignored it. She closed her eyes on the horror of what she was doing. She did know what her plot would have done to Hyrule, as Ravio would later point out. But she lied to herself. Going forward with her plan was easier so long as she didn't allow her mind to drift, so long as she shut off her conscience. It is only once defeated, when Ravio forced her to face the truth that she came to the realization of what she was truly doing. She could no longer close her eyes; there was no denying the horror of her actions.

"What is it like to be a princess from a kingdom blessed by so many happy endings?"
– Princess Hilda, to Princess Zelda's painting.

Faced with the truth, left with no means to silence her conscience, Hilda finally made the right decision. Alone she made foolish decisions, but through others she could attain a certain form of wisdom. Alone, she was led astray. It even became obvious at some point how the power of the Triforce corrupted her. She took pleasure in revealing how perfect her plan was to Link. She went so far as to burst in an obviously twisted laughter when she stole the Triforce of Wisdom. This attitude came off as out of character, as she never displayed anything close to this behavior at any other moment of the game. She has a good nature, but easily allows power to corrupt her. Yet she never lost sight of her desire to restore Lorule and through the help of others, she went back on the right path.

Overall, Hilda smiles very little and tends to keep her emotions to herself. The only time she was seen smiling was when she revealed the entirety of her plan to Link, and arguably she was starting to sink deeper into the corruption brought about by the power of the Triforce. Previously to this, and following her "redemption", Hilda showed no smile. She has little reasons to smile after all, as she is ruler of a decaying and doomed Kingdom. On this matter, she does show some level of jealously toward Zelda.

Maybe she wished she could have been the Princess of a Kingdom as prosperous as Hyrule, to have a life similar to Zelda's. Her wielding a staff as sign of power and her manner of speaking may depict her as somewhat vain, certainly more than Zelda is. She doesn't take kindly at being pitied however, and up till the time when Ravio reasoned her, she tended to feel as though nobody could truly understand her suffering, or that of her kingdom.

"You, who've worried endlessly about the fate of Lorule."
– Ravio, to Princess Hilda.

Yet, in spite of her kingdom's state, she remains proud of being its ruler. She loves her kingdom, no matter how ruined it is. Hilda seems to be self-deprecating to an extent, introducing herself to Link by saying "I have failed you in every way," although it is unknown how much of it all was an act.

To conclude, Hilda is human. She has many conflicting emotions-- She is benevolent, she desire to do well, she is dedicated to her people, but she also has many flaws. She is incredibly stubborn, she displays negative emotions such as jealousy, vanity, and she chooses to look at the truth the way that suits her best, leading to her committing things she will later regret. But when she has friends surrounding her, she is capable of accomplishing the right things.

Greetings to all. As we all know, we have all been taken from our respective worlds and woke up in this world. "Heroes of Light", or so do our hosts call us. I am unsure whether they expect us to fight this Calamity they claim has the power to devour worlds, or whether they expect us to defy this Empire that keeps being mentioned.

What I am sure of, is that they shouldn't be trusted. We have no means to ascertain the truth behind their words and as beautiful as a cage may be, it is only a cage. Being summoned to another world and told you are a hero-- Yes, this is a situation I am very familiar with. And from my experience, I can affirm to you all the truth might not be as you imagine it.

If any among you would like to discuss of alternative to leave this world, I would be pleased to meet you and speak with you.

So say I,
Hilda of Lorule
